GORHAM, Maine – The UMass Dartmouth softball team split with the University of Southern Maine on Thursday afternoon in their last Little East Conference (LEC) series of the regular season. The Corsairs took game one against the Huskies, 4-2, before their seven-game win streak was snapped in the second contest after shouldering a tough 7-8 loss. UMass Dartmouth moves to a 7-9 mark in Little East action while the Huskies improved to a 9-5 conference record.

Chaylin Cruz Salgado scored to defeat Southern Maine 4-2 in game one of the afternoon.

Lily Routhier went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with one run and a stolen base. Perregaux and Menz each recorded one RBI apiece in the win while Tsonis went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Takasugi had a 1-for-4 performance with one run and a stolen base while junior second baseman

First year pitcher
Edy Crawford secured her 11
th win on the mound after pitching her 14
th complete game of the season. She allowed seven hits and surrendered zero earned runs while also recording three punchouts and one wild pitch on 31 batters faced.
UMass Dartmouth once again jumped out to an early 1-0 edge in game two of the series after Takasugi reached home on a sacrifice fly by Perregaux. The Corsairs tacked on two more runs in the top of the third inning featuring a sacrifice fly from senior
Larissa Piessens to make it a 3-0 game. Southern Maine responded in the bottom of the inning after Kendall Migliorini posted a three RBI double to even the score up at 3-3. Migliorini later scored on an RBI double by Mackenzie Renner to give the home team their first lead of the game at 4-3.
The Corsairs fought back in the fourth inning as Menz and sophomore
Liv Matos each produced an RBI apiece to reclaim a 5-4 lead over the Huskies. In the fifth inning, Cruz Salgado put UMass Dartmouth up by three runs with her two-RBI double that scored both Perregaux and Piessens home. Southern Maine quickly answered by tying the game at 7-apeice after cashing in three runs off four hits in the bottom of the fifth. The Huskies continued to apply pressure in the bottom of the seventh inning as Bezanson tagged home to seal the 8-7 win for Southern Maine in game two.
Cruz Salgado went 2-for-2 at the plate with a team-high two RBI and a double. Perregaux also tallied two hits on three at-bats with an RBI and one run. Piessens and Matos each finished the game with a 1-for-2 performance to go along with one RBI, one run, and a double apiece. Menz recorded one RBI while Silva and Routhier ended the contest with one hit each.
Crawford picked up the loss in the circle to move to an 11-10 mark on the season after throwing 3.0 innings. She allowed two earned runs and six hits after facing 17 batters. Routhier checked in for 2.2 innings surrendering zero earned runs and five hits on 16 batters faced. First year pitcher
Riley Giard pitched in the sixth inning giving up zero runs and hits while also producing one strikeout.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Roger Williams University for their regular season finale on Friday, May 2. The non-conference tilt is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. from Paolino Field.
