DARTMOUTH, Mass. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its 2025 Academic All-District At-Large selections, and three UMass Dartmouth field hockey student-athletes have been honored. Lillian Bento, Maggie McCafferty and Abby Perry were all tabbed for their outstanding work in the classroom and on the field.
 
Bento, a junior midfielder and captain from Seekonk, Mass., posted a 3.75 cumulative grade point average as a biology major. During the 2024 campaign, Bento played in all 20 games for the Corsairs, including 19 as a starter. A mainstay on both ends of the field, she finished with three shots, recording two defensive saves, which contributed to a team total of 19 for the season.
 
Highlighting her season was a defensive save in a tough loss to Salve Regina in mid-September. Bento also notched a defensive save in a league defeat to Southern Main in October.
 
McCafferty, a graduate student midfielder and captain from West Bridgewater, Mass., earns her second All-District nod after notching a 3.94 cumulative GPA this past year in biomedical engineering and biotechnology. Playing in all 20 contests, she recorded three goals with two assists for eight points, while ranking second on the team in defensive saves with four. Additionally, she posted 20 shots, including nine on goal in 2024.
 
Among the highlights of her season was a season-opening 5-1 win over Dean where she recorded a goal. She also added an assist in an 8-1 victory over Elms, following it up sooner after with a goal in a tough loss at Westfield State. McCafferty added a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win over Regis, while adding two defensive saves in a narrow loss to Plymouth State in October.
 
Perry, a junior forward from New Bedford, Mass., posted a 3.71 cumulative GPA as a biology major at UMass Dartmouth. On the field, she played in all 20 games for the Corsairs, including 10 as a starter. She recorded two assists for two points and had one shot on the season.
 
Highlighting Perry's season was a 5-0 win over Regis on September 12, where she recorded her first collegiate point. Perry followed that up in October with another assist – this time in a tough loss at Nichols.
 
UMass Dartmouth concluded the 2024 season with a 4-16 overall mark, going 1-5 in Little East action. Among the victories for the Corsairs included Dean (5-1), Elms (8-1), Regis (5-0) and LEC-rival Eastern Connecticut State (2-1).
