DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Sophomore
Daniel Jordan scored his first career hat trick to power the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team over Curry College, 5-1, in their 2025 season home opener. Jordan also added two assists in the victory to open the season with a 1-0 record and hand the Colonels their first loss on the year.
The Colonels snagged an early 1-0 lead after earning a penalty kick at the 18
th minute that Aiden Watts was able to finish. Junior
Nate Cordeiro stepped up to take a deep free kick for the Corsairs with 33 minutes on the clock and sent the ball to the top of the box. Jordan tapped the ball past the Colonels goalkeeper after junior
Joey Renquinha headed Cordeiro's free kick down to tie the game up at 1-apiece.
Shortly after, UMass Dartmouth's pressure caused a turnover in Curry's defensive third where Jordan fired a shot that deflected off a defender. The rebound found the feet of first year
Nick Scanlon who buried the ball into the back of the net to give the home team a 2-1 lead. In the final minute of the first half, senior
Nick Mahjoory gave the Corsairs a two-goal advantage heading into the break after scoring his first goal of the season.
Jordan opened the scoring in the second half to pull away with a 4-1 advantage over Curry. Cordeiro sent first year
Leonardo Alfama on a breakaway before Jordan scoped up the ball and dribbled around the Colonels goalkeeper to pass the ball into the net for his second score of the day. UMass Dartmouth sealed their 5-1 victory as sophomore
Brennan Hill split the Colonels defense with a chip pass to Jordan who dribbled past Curry goalkeeper Ryan McGourty to secure his first career hat trick.
The Corsairs outshot the Colonels by a 16-14 margin while both sides posted six shots apiece on frame. Curry earned seven total corner kicks in the fixture compared the Corsairs three.
Jordan finished the contest with a career-high eight points after netting three goals and dishing out two assists. Mahjoory produced his first goal of the season, his second in his career, while Scanlon tallied his first career goal in his collegiate debut. Hill and Renquinha each registered one assist apiece in the win over Curry while first year

Mario Rodriguez each posted two shot attempts in the game.

Ethan Donahue secured his first win of the 2025 season after allowing just one goal and making five saves. His counterpart gave up five goals and produced one save in net for Curry.
