DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team were bested by Bridgewater State University, 5-0, on Thursday night in non-conference action from Cressy Field. The Corsairs dropped to a 1-4 overall record with the loss against the Bears who picked up their third straight victory of the season.

Shane Cueman posted her first pair of saves of the night. Abbie Zuber doubled Bridgewater States advantage at the 11:59 mark to take a 2-0 edge heading into the second period.
The visitors kept the attacking pressure on as Souza found the back of the cage again five minutes, respectively, into the second period to make it a 3-0 game. Cueman recorded her third stop of the period to deny a shot by Kallie Rose to keep the game at 3-0 entering halftime.

Brooke Lydon each recorded a shot on target to force a pair of saves from Bears goalie Brianna Gagnon. Approaching the eight-minute mark of the third, Lydon drilled anything shot on frame that Gagnon was able to stop. Bridgewater State tacked on two late goals in the final minutes of the period to extend their lead to 5-0.
Cueman registered two early saves in the final period of the contest before the Corsairs offense posted seven straight shots. Gagnon recorded four stops while Madison Ellis produced a defensive save to seal the Bears 5-0 win.

Cueman picked up the loss after registering nine total saves in the cage for UMass Dartmouth and allowing five goals. Her counterpart recorded eight total stops in the win for Bridgwater State.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Clark University for their next non-conference tilt on Saturday, Sept. 13 scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time.
