WESTFIELD, Mass. - The weekly honors for football in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) have been announced and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete Connor McManus has been named the Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in week one at Salve Regina.

McManus, a sophomore out of New Bedford, Mass., paced the Corsairs kicking effort in Saturday's tough loss at Salve Regina. He put UMD on the board at 2:44 of the opening quarter, hitting a 22-yard field goal. McManus then added to the team's total at 6:15 of the second, drilling home a 37-yard field goal. Also added a PAT following the Corsairs score in the third. In total, McManus recorded five punts for 157 yards, averaging 31.4 yards per punt. He also had four kickoffs for 196 yards.

During his rookie campaign, McManus played in all 11 games for the Corsairs. He went 1-for-2 in field goal attempts – all from 30-39 yards out - while serving as the primary punter, making 17 attempts for 614 total yards. He averaged 36.1 yards per punt with a long of 50. Additionally, McManus made 23 of 31 point-after-touchdown attempts.

UMass Dartmouth (0-1) returns to the field on Saturday at 4pm when they host MASCAC-rival Fitchburg State in the Gold Rush game on Cressy Field. Fans are asked to wear gold to the game. There will be giveaways for the first 500 fans as well.
