PROVIDENCE, R.I. - For the second straight week, UMass Dartmouth student-athlete
Ewan McLeod has been recognized by the Little East Conference (LEC) with weekly honors. The freshman was once again named the Rookie Field Athlete of the Week following a performance that saw him record a personal record mark in the high jump, tying with his own teammate for the top height at Brandeis' Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational.
McLeod, a native of Raynham, Mass., notched a personal record and New England Division III Automatic qualifying mark of 1.97 meters (6' 5.5") to take second overall in points and tie teammate
Sean Patrone in the high jump at the Poyau Invite on Saturday. It marks the second straight week the rookie has tied for the top spot in just the second meet of his collegiate career.Â
It marks the second straight weekly honor for McLeod, who currently ranks 30th in Division III in the high jump along with
fourth in NED3, third in the East Region and first overall in the LEC. Last week, the rookie finished in a three-way tie for first in his collegiate debut at the Wesleyan Winter Invite. He posted a personal-best height of 1.95 meters (6' 4.75") in the high jump to tie with his own teammates and was ranked 29th amongst NCAA Division III athletes.Â
UMass Dartmouth returns to action this weekend, heading to Cambridge on January 24 to compete at the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT.
