Corsairs Edge Rhode Island College, 65-57, in Last Regular Season Meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team closed out the 2025-26 regular season with a win over Rhode Island College, 65-57, on Saturday. The Corsairs collected 12 first-place finishes against the Anchorwomen featuring a dominant win in the 400-yard medley relay to secure their second victory of the season.
 
Senior Isabella Gerardi kicked off the meet by capturing the first win of the day for UMass Dartmouth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:33.01. She went on to place first overall in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.53) and 200-yard butterfly (2:50.65) to wrap the meet with three individual victories.
 
Senior Kylie Winer also had a strong performance for the Corsairs after collecting three wins against the Anchorwomen. She started the day with a win in the 200-yard breaststroke event posting a time of 2:42.37. She then posted a time of 1:01.47 in the 100-yard freestyle, good for her second first-place finish of the day. Winer wrapped up the meet by competing in the 500-yard freestyle and clocked in at 6:01.55 to secure her third win.   
 
Junior Skye Peters produced three wins as well to help the Corsairs defeat the Anchorwomen. Peters posted a time of 2:18.66 to capture her first victory of the day in the 200-yard freestyle. She took first overall in the 50-yard freestyle clocking in at 27.33 before closing out the meet with a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.73.
 
First year Abby Fernandes collected two first-place finishes for UMass Dartmouth in the final regular season meet. Fernandes took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:33.98 and in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:29.74. She also captured second overall in the 100-yard breaststroke after clocking in at 1:23.58.
 
In the relay, UMass Dartmouth took first place in the 400-yard medley relay after posting a time of 4:42.50 featuring Peters, Winer, Gerardi, and Fernandes.
 
Coach's Corner:
"This was a great way to close out the regular season," said head coach Michael Kroll following today's win. "We had a lot of great swims in a short amount of time. We're looking forward to the Little East Conference Championships in two weeks." 
 
UMass Dartmouth will prepare for the 2026 Little East Conference (LEC) Championships starting on Friday, February 13 from the Boston Sports Institute.
