WELLESLEY, Mass. - It was another strong morning preliminaries for the UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team, who swam in three events in the morning session on day two of the Little East Swimming & Diving Championships - hosted at the Boston Sports Institute. The Corsairs will see two swimmers advance to chamionship finals this evening, with another participating in the consolation finals.
Opening the day was the 400-yard individual medley as rookie
Abby Fernandes swam to sixth overall with a personal best time of 5:17.72. She will now compete in the championship final this evening. Senior
Isabella Gerardi also swam in the 400-IM, taking ninth overall with a personal best time of 5:35.97 to advance into the evening's consolation final.
Junior
Skye Peters competed in the 50-yard butterfly, earning 17th overall with a mark of 30.55, while senior
Kylie Winer was the final individual swim of the morning, taking third overall in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal best time of 1:12.41. Winer will now advance to Saturday's championship final.
The Corsairs will also compete in two relays during the evening finals, including the 200-yard-medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
Action for the Saturday finals begins at 6:30pm.
