Track & Field Duo Garner Weekly League Honors

Alexander named Field Athlete of the Week; McLeod earns Rookie Field Athlete honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference has announced its weekly honorees in men's outdoor track & field and UMass Dartmouth student-athletes Ancil Alexander and Ewan McLeod have been recognized. The duo took home Field Athlete and Rookie Field Athlete of the Week, respectively. It marks the fourth weekly honor of the year for Alexander and the first of the outdoor season, while McLeod is now a three-time Rookie Field honoree after earning two during indoor.
 
Alexander, a sophomore from Taunton, Mass., had an outstanding start to his outdoor season as the squad opened at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic at Wesleyan University. He won the discus throw with a mark of 51.13 meters (167' 9"), which was a New England Division III Automatic qualifying mark and ranks him third overall in the NCAA Division III.
 
A two-time All-American in the discus (Outdoor 2025) and the shot put (Indoor 2026), Alexander went on to win the shot put at Wesleyan with a throw of 16.19 meters (53' 1.5"), which was another NED3 Automatic qualifier and ranks him fifth nationally amongst Division III competitors. He ranks first overall in both events in New England DIII, the Northeast Region and the Little East.
 
McLeod, who hails from Raynham, Mass., garnered his honor after winning the high jump at the Swanson Spring Classic with a personal best height of 2.03 meters (6' 7.75"). His jump – which was a New England D3 Automatic qualifier, ranks him fourth overall in NCAA Division III.
 
Additionally, McLeod's height ranks him second in NED3 and the Northeast Region, along with first in the Little East. His performance is also tied for the sixth-highest outdoor performance all-time in Corsairs history and the ninth highest performance in LEC outdoor history.
 
The Corsairs men's and women's squads return to action this weekend, hosting the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Classic. Action begins on Friday at 1pm with several throws competitions with the full slate of action getting underway at 11am on Saturday.
