NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) announced the 2026 NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic participants and UMass Dartmouth student-athletes
Melanie DeMeo and
Yasmine Santos have been selected.

A guard from Mahopac, New York, DeMeo was an All-LEC Second Team selection after averaging 14.2 points per game as a starter in all 27 games for the Corsairs this season. She averaged a team-best 32.1 minutes per game with a 3.0 rebounding average. Additionally, DeMeo added 64 assists, 24 steals and seven blocks on the season.

DeMeo posted 19 games with 10 or more points, including a career-high 26 points in a 67-57 victory over Vermont State University Castleton on December 6. She also had a 25-point effort in another win against VTSU Castleton in January, along with 25 points in a 67-59 win over Eastern Connecticut State on February 4.

The senior ranked 10th in the conference in scoring and second overall in free throw percentage (.886; 101-of-114). She was also third in three-point field goal percentage (.371) and 10th overall in three-point field goals per game (1.6; 27-of-43).

Santos, a guard/forward from Pawtucket, R.I., led the Corsairs in scoring this season with a 16.2 points per game average. In 26 games, including 24 as a starter, she also boasted a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game, adding 22 assists, four blocks and 27 steals.

The All-LEC Second Team honoree ranked fifth in the Little East in scoring and was ninth in rebounding. Her 38 points scored in a narrow 79-71 loss at Eastern Connecticut State in January remains the highest points scored in a game amongst the league's best this season.

Santos posted 19 games with 10 or more points, including nine games with 20 or more points. She also recorded six double-doubles on the year.

UMass Dartmouth concluded its 2025-26 season with an 11-16 overall record, going 7-9 overall in Little East play. The Corsairs earned the fifth-seed in the LEC Tournament, defeating UMass Boston, 80-70 in the quarterfinals, before falling to top-seed and eventual champion, Southern Maine in the semifinals.
