DARTMOUTH, Mass. – It was an outstanding day of action for the UMass Dartmouth men's outdoor track & field team, who hosted the 2026 Corsair Classic on Saturday. The day was highlighted by sophomore
Ancil Alexander, who broke his own school record and posted the top throw in Division III in the discus throw.
The Corsairs also saw several victories, personal records and multiple New England Division III qualifying marks on the day.
In the 100-meter dash, junior
Justin Andrade took fourth overall in 11.17, while sophomore
Jonathan Gourdine was eighth in 11.44. Classmate
Maddox Dupre was 16th overall in 11.71 as rookie
Carlos Cruz was right behind in 17th in 11.72. Sophomore
Devin Nieves was 23rd overall in 11.91.
The 200-meter dash saw Andrade finish fifth overall in 23.01, while Gourdine was seventh in 23.10. Sophomore
Zane Gordon placed 13th in 23.48, while Dupre was 20th in 24.08. In the 400-meter dash, sophomore
Daniel Jordan was fifth overall in 51.75, while rookie
Edward Yeboah posted ninth in 52.47. Junior
RJ Stone was 16th in 54.34, while sophomore
Isaac Toweh and rookies
Kaden Thomas and
Trevor Godfrey were 19th (55.73), 21st (55.80) and 23rd (56.12), respectively.
Junior
Zack Shute posted third overall in the 800-meter run, recording a personal best time of 2:03.22, while classmate
Tyler Scanlon took sixth overall in 2:05.08. The 1500-meters was paced by junior
Joseph Stanton, who was fourth overall with a personal best time of 4:07.01. Senior
Ethan Sylvia placed eighth overall in 4:13.07, while sophomore
Jack Barbato was 15th in 4:17.25. Sophomore
Connor Bruni and senior
Colin Ozturk posted 18th (4:19.97) and 19th (4:20.03), respectively.
In the 5000-meters, junior
Cameron Thompson earned the victory, notching a New England Division III Provisional qualifying mark of 15:26.24. Sophomore
Jackson Caron was eighth overall in 16:16.56.
The 110-meter hurdles saw rookie
Karens Antoine place sixth overall in 17.41, while in the 400-meter hurdles, rookie
Jacob Marques was 10th overall in 1:02.20 and junior
Josh Kurutu was 16th in 1:07.42.
In the 4x100-meter relay, Andrade, Jordan, Gordon and Gourdine combined to place second overall in 43.54. The group of Dupre, Cruz and rookie
Jaiden Cohall and
Carlens Elas posted fifth in 44.84. The 4x400-meter relay team of Bruni, Scanlon, rookie
Sean Benvissuto and Ozturk were third overall in 3:50.03.
Rookie
Ewan McLeod took second overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.97 meters (6' 5.5") – which was a New England DIII Automatic qualifying mark. Senior
Vincenzo Videtta took third overall with a jump of 1.92 meters (6' 3.5"), while sophomore
Sean Patrone was fourth – also with a height of 1.92 meters (6' 3.5").
Alexander first claimed victory in the shot put, recording a distance of 15.83 meters (51' 11.25"), while rookie Chalais Saintil finished third overall with a mark of 14.73 meters (48' 4"). Sophomore
Mickey Valentino was fourth overall with a mark of 14.34 meters (47' 0.75") – all three marks were New England D3 Automatic qualifying marks.
Rookie
Dan McCarthy posted ninth in the shot put with a throw of 12.90 meters (42' 4"), while sophomore
Kevin Saenz was 11th with a mark of 12.88 meters (42' 3.25").
Alexander then posted his school record throw in the discus, posting a mark of 54.90 meters (180' 1") for the victory. That mark currently sits as the top throw in Division III and is also an NED3 Automatic qualifying mark. Saintil posted sixth with a mark of 40.06 meters (131' 5"), while Saenz was 11th with a throw of 37.94 meters (124' 6"). McCarthy had a solid throw for 12th in 36.23 meters (118' 10").
The hammer throw saw graduate student
Joseph Uwanogho earn second overall with a throw of 47.06 meters (154' 5"), recording an NED3 Provisional qualifying mark. Rookie
Michael Gama also had a Provisional mark, posting a throw of 46.07 meters (151' 2") for third, while Alexander took fourth overall with a personal best throw of 45.59 meters (149' 7").
Valentino posted 14th overall in the hammer with a mark of 39.70 meters (128' 2"), while rookie Michael Precious was 16th with a throw of 37.44 meters (122' 10"). Saenz was 18th overall with a mark of 36.78 meters (120' 8"), while McCarthy was 21st with a throw of 33.72 meters (110' 7").
In the javelin throw, rookie Malik Escoffrey finished 12th overall with a personal best throw of 38.78 meters (127' 3") to close out the Corsairs finishes.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action next weekend, traveling to New London, Conn., to compete at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on Saturday.
