PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East has announced its weekly honorees in men's outdoor track & field and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete
Ancil Alexander was recognized. The sophomore was named the conference's Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week in the outdoor season. It also marks his fifth overall honor of 2026, including indoor.
Alexander, who hails from Taunton, Mass., had another record-breaking weekend at Saturday's Corsair Classic, winning the discus throw with another school record (his previous: 52.94m) and personal best throw of 54.90 meters (180' 1"). It was not only a New England DIII Automatic qualifying mark, but also the top throw in Division III this season.
A two-time All-American in the discus (2025 outdoor) and shot put (2026 indoor), Alexander also won the shot put on Saturday with a mark of 15.83 meters (51' 11.25:") and placed fourth in the hammer throw with a personal best mark of 45.49 meters (149' 7") – which was an NED3 Provisional qualifying mark.
Currently, Alexander leads all of Division III with the top throw in the discus throw, while ranking 15th in the nation in the shot put. He ranks first overall in New England DIII, the Northeast Region and the Little East in the discus. Alexander is also second in the Northeast and the Little East in the shot put, while ranking ninth in the Northeast and eighth in the LEC in the hammer throw.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Saturday, traveling to New London, Conn., for the Coast Guard Spring Invitational. Action begins at 10am.
