Whitehouse Named Little East Rookie of the Week

Freshman nets seven points in two weeks last week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) has announced its weekly honorees in women's lacrosse and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete Cat Whitehouse was named the conference's Rookie of the Week. It marks the first weekly honor for the freshman, who had a breakout week for the Corsairs.

Whitehouse, a midfielder from Newington, Conn., led all rookie scorers in a 1-1 week for UMass Dartmouth. She notched three goals with four assists for seven points, adding six shots - including four on goal. She went 2-for-3 on the free position with five ground balls, a draw control and three caused turnovers. In a 17-5 loss at Worcester State, she scored a pair of goals, including one on the free position, while adding two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Then, in a 14-6 win against Maine Maritime, she notched a goal with a team and career-high four assists - including one on each of the Corsairs first three tallies to open the game. She also added three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.

Through three games played, Whitehouse ranks third overall in scoring with three goals and four assists for seven points. She has produced six shots, including four on goal, with five ground balls, three caused turnovers and a draw control.

UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Wednesday when it welcomes Mass. Maritime Academy to Cressy Field for a 6pm start. The Corsairs will then host Regis College on Saturday at 12pm.
