PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East has announced its weekly honorees in men's outdoor track & field and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete
Ancil Alexander was recognized once again. The sophomore was named the conference's Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth straight week in the outdoor season. It also marks his seventh overall honor of 2026, including indoor.
Alexander, who hails from Taunton, Mass., captured victory in the discus throw at the Tufts Spring Stampede on Saturday with a throw of 52.52 meters (172' 4"). He also won the shot put at Tufts with a throw of 16.34 meters (53' 7.5) and was eighth in the hammer throw with a collegiate-best mark of 47.88 meters (157' 1"). So far in the outdoor season, he has claimed four straight victories in both the discus throw and the shot put.
An All-American in the discus (2025 outdoor) and shot put (2026 indoor), Alexander currently ranks second in Division III in the discus throw with a mark of 54.90 meters – a school record he hit at the Corsair Classic on March 28. He ranks first in the event among the Northeast Region, New England D3 and Little East throwers. In the shot put, Alexander ranks 16th nationally and is second in the region, New England D3 and the conference.
Alexander, who was the 2026 Little East Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, also ranks 10th in the Northeast Region in the hammer throw. Additionally, he is 19th in New England D3 and eighth in the Little East.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Friday when they travel to Bridgewater State to compete in the Bears Spring Invitational. Action gets underway at 11am.
