DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Behind seven victories and a number of top-three finishes, the UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team claimed victory at the 2026 Little East Outdoor Championships on Saturday. The Corsairs compiled 167.5 points to claim their sixth outdoor championship title in program history. It also marks their fourth since the 2022 season and second in a row.
The Corsairs saw a bevy of wins in the field events, paced by sophomore
Ancil Alexander, who defended his title in the shot put with a winning throw of 16.73 meters – which marked a new season's best as he earned the gold medal and All-LEC First Team. Classmate
Mickey Valentino went on to take third overall with a mark of 14.56 meters to garner the bronze medal and All-LEC Third Team.
Senior
Joseph Uwanogho posted fifth overall with a throw of 14.30 meters, while rookie Chalais Saintil was seventh with a mark of 13.72 meters. Sophomore
Kevin Saenz placed 10th with a throw of 13.06 meters, while rookie
Dan McCarthy was 14th with a mark of 12.52 meters.
Alexander went on to claim victory in the discus throw, defending his title once more with a mark of 51.26 meters – garnering gold and All-LEC First Team once again. Saintil was sixth with a throw of 42.79 meters, while Saenz and Uwanogho finished 12th (38.69m) and 13th (36.60m), respectively. McCarthy rounded out the efforts in 17th (34.14m).
Rookie
Jayden Francois went on to claim victory in the long jump with a mark of 6.67 meters, while classmate
Bryce Kankam finished eighth with a mark of 6.13 meters. The high jump saw another victory as sophomore
Sean Patrone defended his title with a mark of 1.92 meters, earning gold and All-LEC First Team honors. Senior
Vincenzo Videtta finished in a tie for second and All-LEC Second Team recognition with a mark of 1.92 meters, while rookie
Ewan McLeod was fourth overall with a mark of 1.92 meters.
In the pole vault, sophomore
Devin Nieves was eighth overall with a height of 3.70 meters, while in the triple jump, rookie
Marcus Pires was fifth overall with a mark of 12.66 meters. Sophomore
Kevin Ayala went on to place ninth in 11.70 meters. The hammer throw saw Uwanogho place third overall with a mark of 52.26 meters for All-LEC Third Team, while rookie
Michael Gama was fourth overall with a mark of 51.95 meters. Valentino posted 10th with a mark of 46.27 meters, while Alexander was 12th overall with a mark of 44.18 meters.
The javelin throw saw rookie
Malik Escoffery place 13th overall with a throw of 40.14 meters to round out the field events.
In the 100-meter dash, junior
Justin Andrade posted third overall for All-LEC Third Team honors with a time of 11.07. Sophomore
Daniel Jordan earned seventh overall in 11.18. Rookie
Shemar Dillon was 12th in 11.34, while sophomore
Jonathan Gourdinewas 18th in 11.55, followed by classmate
Maddox Dupre in 19th (11.59).
Jordan went on to finish third overall for All-LEC Third Team recognition with a mark of 22.32 meters. Rookie
Carlens Elas posted seventh in 22.64, while sophomore
Zane Gordon was 10th in 22.84. Andrade was 13th in 22.90, while Gourdine finished 18th in 23.85.
Gordon went on to clam victory and defend his title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.04. Junior
RJ Stone posted 14th in a time of 54.27, while rookie
Trevor Godfrey was 15th in 54.35. Rounding out the efforts was sophomore
Isaac Toweh in 17th with a time of 56.55.
In the 800-meter run, junior
Joseph Stanton ran to third overall with a time of 1:55.85 to earn All-LEC Third Team honors. Rookie
Edward Yeboah placed sixth in 1:58.58, while junior
Zack Shute posted eighth in 1:59.16. Junior
Tyler Scanlon rounded out the event in 13th with a mark of 2:03.60.
Junior
Cameron Thompson won the 1500-meter run with a mark of 3:58.87, capturing gold and All-LEC First Team honors, while junior
James Carriere was sixth with a time of 4:09.55. Sophomores
Michael Gemelli,
Jack Barbato and
Jackson Caron were 11th (4:21.90), 12th (4:23.14) and 13th (4:24.22), respectively. Senior
Cooper Blatz was 17th (4:54.57), while rookie
Jake Faria posted 18th (4:56.31).
In the 5000-meters, rookie
Stevie MacLennan finished 11th overall in 16:29.69, while classmate
William Johnson was 12th in 17:30.67. Junior
Ben Bairos rounded out the event in 14th with a time of 17:33.75. In the 10000-meters, junior
Ethan Sylvia posted fourth in 32:33.20, while senior
Colin Ozturk was eighth in 33:15.85. Sophomore
Connor Bruni posted ninth in 34:20.83 to conclude the event.
Francois posted fourth overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a mark of 15.56 as he notched a time of 54.45 in the 400-meter hurdles to earn fourth once again. Sophomore
Daniel Ward posted 12th overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.71, rookie
Jacob Marques was 14th overall in 1:01.26, while junior
Josh Kurutu posted 17th in 1:06.86.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase saw junior
Ronan Maloney post ninth overall in a time of 10:20.10, while in the 4x100-meters, Andrade, Jordan, Gordon and Dillon ran to third overall in 42.40 claiming All-LEC Third Team honors.
In the 4x400-meters, Elas, Stone, rookie
Jaiden Cohall and sophomore
Bunmi Fabikun combined for sixth overall in 3:32.39. The Corsairs claimed victory in the 4x800 meter relay as Yeboah, Shute, Thompson and Stanton combined for a mark of 7:58.30.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action next weekend, traveling to Springfield College for the Division III New England Championships. Action gets underway Friday and runs through Saturday.
