Alexander Claims Third Straight Weekly Honor

Sophomore named Field Athlete of the Week after another strong performance

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East has announced its weekly honorees in men's outdoor track & field and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete Ancil Alexander was recognized. The sophomore was named the conference's Field Athlete of the Week for the third straight week in the outdoor season. It also marks his sixth overall honor of 2026, including indoor.
 
Alexander, who hails from Taunton, Mass., claimed victory in the discus throw at the Coast Guard Spring Invitational on Saturday. He posted a throw of 53.33 meters (175' 0"), which was another New England Division III Automatic Qualifying mark. Alexander has now claimed victory in the discus in all three outdoor meets this season.
 
An All-American in the discus (2025 outdoor) and shot put (2026 indoor), Alexander also won the shot put on Saturday with a season's best throw of 16.54 meters (54' 3.25") and another New England D3 Automatic Qualifying mark. His win on Saturday is also the third straight of the season in the shot put.
 
Currently, Alexander ranks second in Division III in the discus throw with a mark of 54.90 meters – a school record he hit at the Corsair Classic on March 28. He ranks first in the event among the Northeast Region, New England D3 and Little East throwers. In the shot put, Alexander ranks 15th nationally and is second in the region, New England D3 and the conference.
 
Alexander, who was the 2026 Little East Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, also ranks 11th in the Northeast Region in the hammer throw. Additionally, he is 24th in New England D3 and 10th in the Little East after posting a personal best throw of 45.59 meters at the Corsair Classic.
 
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Friday at the Tufts Spring Stampede. Action begins at 1pm. The Corsairs are back at Tufts again on Saturday with events getting underway at 10am.
