SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team saw a number of strong performances highlight day one of the New England Division III Championships, hosted by Springfield College at Blake Track.
In the hammer throw, graduate student
Joseph Uwanogho posted 10th overall with a throw of 49.23 meters (161' 6"), while sophomore
Ancil Alexander posted 18th with a mark of 44.63 meters (146' 5"). Sophomore
Mickey Valentino rounded out the action, placing 20th with a distance of 43.72 meters (143' 5").
In the 100-meter dash trials, sophomore
Daniel Jordan finished 15th overall in 11.00 – which was just shy of a collegiate-best (10.97). Junior
Justin Andrade finished 17th overall in 11.03 to round out the event.
Concluding the day was the 10,000-meters as senior
Colin Ozturk finished ninth overall with a personal record time of 32:53.06. Junior
Ethan Sylvia ran to 12th overall with a mark of 33:04.46.
The Corsairs will see 11 individuals and two relay teams back in action on Saturday for day two of the New England DIII Championships. Action begins with the shot put at 11am.
