Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. -- University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Taylor Corsano (Bourne, Mass.) scored a career-high eight goals, but it wasn't enough as homestanding Worcester State University utilized a nine-goal, first half outburst en route to a 21-12 victory this afternoon at Coughlin Field.
Corsano tallied six of her eight markers in the second half, while adding an assist to match her single-game career high in points with nine. She also recorded eight draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Sophomore Colleen Kane (Arlington, Mass.) turned in a balanced scoring performance with three goals and three helpers for six points. Freshman Catrina Longo (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) also found the back of the net for the visitors. Junior Sarah Kalmes (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) collected a season-high 11 ground balls to lead the Corsairs defensive attack.
In between the pipes for UMass Dartmouth, freshman Nicole Butts (Milford, Mass./Mount St. Charles) allowed three goals in two minutes, 31 seconds of action before classmate Leah Wilkinson (Northford, Conn./North Branford) came on in relief to play the remainder of the contest. Wilkinson turned aside a season-high 11 attempts, marking the second time this spring she has reached double digits in saves.
The Lancers held a 42-25 advantage in shots, while the Corsairs scooped up 30 ground balls compared to the hosts' 27.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, when the Corsairs travel to Bridgewater State University.
