Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. – After going scoreless for the final 46 minutes of regulation, Endicott College midfielder Ashleigh Allen recorded the game-winning goal in the first minute of overtime to give the Gulls the 3-2 victory against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team on Wednesday evening.
Endicott (3-1) did all of their regulation scoring in the opening half. In the 6th minute of the contest, forward Mackenzie Hurst put the home team on the scoreboard first when she cradled a caromed shot and beat the goalie for her second score of the season. Senior Emily Sawchuck gave Endicott a one goal advantage right before the intermission when she broke away from the defense and registered the second goal of the half for the Gulls.
Junior Jill Levrault (Somerset, Mass.) tallied a pair of scores for the visiting Corsairs, including the tying mark to force the game into extra-time. Facing a 1-0 deficit, junior Emily Anderson (Medway, Mass.) connected with Levrault for an equalizer in the 17th minute of the match. Just over five minutes into the second half, Levrault once again tied the match for UMass Dartmouth (1-4) when she found the back of the net for the fourth time this season.
In net, Corsair sophomore Elizabeth St. Germaine (Wareham, Mass.) turned away six shot attempts. For Endicott, Francheska Ventura and Rose Bradley split time on the field. Ventura compiled 11 saves in 52:11 minutes of action, while Rose Bradley earned her first collegiate win in net.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Saturday, Sep. 13, when the Corsairs travel to Framingham State for an 11 a.m. non-conference match.
