Field Hockey Garners NFHCA Academic Honors for 2025 Season

Six Corsairs recognized for outstanding effort in the classroom

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) recently announced their full slate of academic awards for the Fall 2025 season and UMass Dartmouth was recognized across the board. One student-athlete was named a Scholar of Distinction while with six individuals garnered DIII National Academic Squad recognition.
 
Rookies defender/midfielder Carly Wang was the Corsairs' Scholar of Distinction honoree, which is awarded to those who have exhibited exceptional academic excellence, achieving a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher throughout the fall semester of the 2025-26 academic year. The rookie was among 543 undergraduate honorees to be recognized.
 
The Corsairs also saw six student-athletes tabbed to the National Academic Squad – including Wang – which is bestowed upon individuals who have attained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current academic year. Overall, 1800 student-athletes hailing from 147 institutions have each earned an honored place on the 2025 Division III National Academic Squad.
 
UMass Dartmouth saw senior captain and midfielder Lillian Bento, junior forward Morgan Carr, sophomore goalie Shane Cueman and forward Logan Diffley, senior captain and forward Abby Perry and Wang were all honored for their outstanding work in the classroom.
 
The Corsairs – led by third year head coach Anika Goodhue – posted a 2-17 overall record with wins over Elms College and Regis College. At season's end, Bento, junior defender Sophia Bouffard and Cueman were all named to the All-LEC Second Team, while Perry was an LEC Sportsmanship Team selection. Additionally, three student-athletes were also named to the LEC All-Academic Team.
