Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth led wire-to-wire on Saturday, exploding out of the gate to outscore Plymouth State 25-8 in the first quarter and ultimately seize a 64-42 Little East Conference victory at Foley Gymnasium.

How it Happened
The Corsairs set the pace immediately, with sophomore Nakira Examond (New Bedford, Mass.) going 5-for-5 from the field for 12 points in the opening frame. Examond registered nine-straight points in just over two minutes, generating a 9-2 Corsair run on her own to put the visitors up 12-4. With 1:41 left in the quarter, senior Rachel McCarron (Groton, Mass.) buried a 3-pointer, and UMass Dartmouth ultimately put the game out of reach by closing the frame on a 13-4 streak. All said, the Corsairs opened with their most accurate quarter on the season thus far, connecting on 10-of-13 (76.9 percent) shooting.
Throughout the second and third quarters, UMass Dartmouth would build upon its advantage, leading by as much as 30 near the end of the third. Plymouth State performed well in the fourth, outdoing the Corsairs 14-8 on the stanza, but the visitors' advantage proved too steep .
Inside the Numbers
- Examond finished with a season-high 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting in 32 minutes. The forward continued her strong season from the foul line, making 6-of-7 attempts.
- Junior Alicia Kutil (Franklin, Mass.) produced UMass Dartmouth's first double-double on the season, posting 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
- As a unit, UMass Dartmouth went 25-for-50 from the field, registering a season-high in field goal percentage and snagged 42 rebounds for its second-highest total on the year.
- With 10 points including six in the fourth quarter, freshman Kayla McMahon (Hanover, Mass.) posted a new career-high on 4-of-8 shooting.
- The Corsairs' domination of the paint continued on Saturday, as the visitors outdid Plymouth State 28-18 down low. Additionally, UMass Dartmouth saw 22 points from its bench for a well-rounded attack.
- Plymouth State has now suffered 12-straight setbacks to UMass Dartmouth dating back to the 2010-11 season. The Panthers' last victory over a Corsair team was an 88-84 decision on Dec. 4, 2010.
