Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – A fast start for the Hawks of Roger Williams was too much for the Corsairs, as UMass Dartmouth men's lacrosse fell 19-9 in non-conference action on Wednesday evening. The Corsairs fall to 2-3 on the year, while Roger Williams improves to 4-3.
Senior Bo Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.) tabulated seven points on the contest, registering four goals along with three assists. Freshman Zach Walker (Andover, Mass.) set a season-high with three goals, while senior Alex Lucas (Brookfield, Mass.) added a goal and an assist.
The Hawks shutout the Corsairs in the opening frame, scoring five straight goals before Prozinski scored back-to-back halfway through the second period. Roger Williams would extend their lead to 7-2 before Walker potted his fourth goal of the season with 33 second left in the first half to cut the Hawks lead to 4.
Coming out of halftime, the hosts pulled away by scoring six goals in the third quarter, capped off by two straight goals by junior AJ Core (Syosset, N.Y.) one minute apart from one another.
In the fourth quarter, UMass Dartmouth struck five times, but the Hawks offense was too much. Roger Williams answered the first three Corsairs goals with two of its own.
For the Hawks, both senior Nick Gagnon (Milton, Mass.) and classmate Will Siefert (Duxbury, Mass.) each tallied four goals and two assists on the afternoon.
Junior Matt LaFond (Bridgewater, Mass.) made 13 saves between the pipes for the Corsairs in the loss, while the Hawks split time between junior Connor Carroll (Madison, Conn.) and freshman Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine). Carroll made five saves in 45 minutes of work, while Nolan made a pair of stops in 15 minutes of action.
The Hawks outshot the Corsairs 53-23 on the afternoon, and doubled up UMass Dartmouth in shots on net (32-16).
The Corsairs will look to snap a two-game losing streak when they travel to Norton, Mass. to take on Wheaton (Mass.) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
