Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. - The UMass Dartmouth women's lacrosse offense never let up, generating a season-high in goals at Worcester State on Tuesday night as senior Colleen Kane (Arlington, Mass.) scored a season-high eight goals to contribute to the 21-12 win over the Lancers.
Sophomore Leah Douty (Framingham, Mass.) notched a career-high four goals with two assists for the Corsairs, collecting five ground balls and causing three turnovers. Junior Catrina Longo (Billerica, Mass.) also registered four scores, while Julia DiPillo (Medway, Mass.) buried two goals with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Three additional Corsairs tallied a goal apiece in the offensive attack.
Worcester State's Jackie Connors (Ashland, Mass.) netted six goals for the Lancers, while Mackenzie Little (Marlboro, Mass.) tacked on another three scores. Three other Lancers tallied a goal each.
After the Lancers jumped out to 2-0 start, the Corsairs rallied back, immediately tacking on five unanswered goals over the course of eight minutes. Kane and Longo traded scores, while Douty and sophomore Raquel Riley (Wakefield, Mass.) capped the run to build a 8-2 lead. Connors then rattled off three straight goals in less than two minutes, cutting the lead to only three before trading a goal apiece with Douty to close the half. UMass Dartmouth entered the break leading 9-6.
At the start of the second half the Corsairs kept on the gas, scoring the first five goals in less than six minutes to build a 12-6 lead. The Corsairs responded to every Worcester State goal, not allowing the Lancers score more than two-straight goals until firing back. Kane buried two back-to-back goals after Little's repeat scores with ten minutes remaining. Sophomore Louisa Stansbury (Milford, Mass.) and freshman Angela Correia (Bridgewater, Mass.) helped cap the game with goals in the last five minutes.
Freshman Kaitlyn Burchill (Bridgewater, Mass.) totaled nine saves in net for the Corsairs, while Worcester State's Krissy Pressa (Walpole, Mass.) turned aside 10 shots in a full 60 minutes of action.
The Corsairs return home on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest with Salem State before opening Little East Conference play on Saturday.
