Box Score DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Rhode Island College owned the second half by scoring seven straight of eight overall unanswered goals to hand UMass Dartmouth a 13-4 Little East setback at Cressy Field on Wednesday evening. The Anchorwoman trio of sophomores Giana Ritchie (Cumberland, R.I.), Madison McKenna (Cumberland, R.I.), and freshman Olivia Carpenito (Wilmington, Mass.) each netted four scores to back senior goalie Julia Eaton's (Cumberland, R.I.) 13 saves.
How it Happened
- Two pairs of Anchorwomen scores bookended freshman Carrianne Fortier's (Oxford, Mass.) 26th minute goal off the setup from classmate Isabella Mancini (Bellingham, Mass.) (4-1). Mancini then picked up another point, this time of the goal variety, to whittle the deficit back to a pair (4-2).
- Following a pass from Anchorwoman junior Angie Leonardo (East Providence, R.I.) over to Carpenito to bring it back to a three-goal game (5-2), junior Sam Muir (Sturbridge, Mass.) submitted her answer by netting a pair seven minutes apart to get the Blue and Gold within one (5-4).
- Rhode Island College began to pull away with eight unanswered goals that bridged the first and second halves, all coming from the trio of Carpenito, Ritchie, and McKenna, who connected for two in as many minutes (13-4).
