Box Score DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Michelina Pinto (Groton, Conn.) netted five goals and an assist for six points to lead Eastern Connecticut to a 17-5 Little East Conference women's lacrosse victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field.
Pinto collected a hat trick in the opening 15 minutes of play as the visiting Warriors (1-10, 1-1 LEC) scored nine of the first 10 goals of the contest, and junior Madison Renaud (Somers, Conn.) added a hat trick of her own in the final 12:08 of the half to give Eastern Connecticut a 12-3 advantage at the break. The visitors iced their triumph with four unanswered tallies in the opening 13:48 after intermission, as Renauld ended the day with four goals as one of six Warriors to net two or more markers in the contest.
Sophomore Sydney Hogan (Northford, Conn.) added a pair of tallies and three assists for Eastern Connecticut, which received two goals and a pair of helpers from sophomore Olivia Donahue (Avon, Conn.) to go with two markers and an assist off the stick of junior Tristan Kijak (Windsor, Conn.). Freshman Aiyana Ward (Waterbury, Conn.) also scored twice on the day for the Warriors, who received three assists from junior Meg Bartley (Somers, Conn.) along with single helpers off the sticks of junior Ally Foster (Oakdale, Conn.) and freshman Gabby Abramczyk (Bristol, Conn.).
Junior Sam Muir (Sturbridge, Mass.) and freshman Isabella Mancini (Bellingham, Mass.) each scored twice in the setback for the host Corsairs (4-6, 0-2 LEC), who received a goal and two assists from senior Brooke Martel (Haverhill, Mass.). Senior Jessica Purick (Riverhead, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal for Eastern Connecticut with a 14-save effort, while senior Kaitlyn Burchill (Bridgewater, Mass.) made six first half stops in the setback for UMass Dartmouth. Junior Bridget Harrington (Florence, Mass.) registered five saves in the final 30 minutes of play for the hosts, as the Warriors outshot the Corsairs by a 30-27 margin overall (28-19 on goal) and held a 15-9 edge in draw controls for the contest.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Worcester State in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Cressy Field beginning at 7:00 pm, while Eastern Connecticut entertains Fitchburg State in a non-league matchup on Thursday evening in Mansfield, Conn. that also begins at 7:00 pm.
