Men's Lacrosse Suffers 15-5 Non-League Setback At Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. --  Senior Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) netted five goals and four assists for nine points to lead Roger Williams to a 15-5 non-league college men's lacrosse victory over UMass Dartmouth Wednesday afternoon at Bayside Field.

The host Hawks (1-1) scored the first six goals of the contest and built an 8-2 advantage at the break, as Roger Williams notched three man-up markers overall and closed out its triumph with five more unanswered tallies in the fourth quarter.  Junior Gabe Reale (Fairfield, Conn.) added a hat trick for the winners, who received two goals and three assists from junior Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) along with a pair of markers off the stick of junior Brenden Whitten (Kennebunk, Maine).

Junior Tim Jordan (Sandwich, Mass.) tallied twice in the setback for the visiting Corsairs (0-2), who received a goal and assist each from senior Donovan Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.) and junior Jeff Wenzel (Medway, Mass.) along with single helpers off the sticks of senior Mike Rizzo (Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Zak Wirsen (Bourne, Mass.).  Junior Ryan Bannon (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with an 18-save performance for Roger Williams, while senior Ted McCaffery (Pepperell, Mass.) made 11 stops in the setback for UMass Dartmouth.  Each team had 36 total shots in the contest, but the Hawks held a 20-4 edge in the face off circle for the afternoon.

UMass Dartmouth will be idle until next Wednesday, March 4th when the Corsairs travel to Cambridge, Mass. to square off with MIT in a non-league match beginning at 4:00 pm, while Roger Williams heads to New London, Conn. on Saturday afternoon for a non-league clash with Connecticut College that begins at 1:00 pm.
