DA BEARS
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth football team plays its biggest game of the year at Bridgewater State on Saturday at noon. The Corsairs have won three consecutive games and are in third place in the MASCAC standings with a 4-2 league record, while the Bears are undefeated in the conference at 5-0 and tied with Framingham for first place.

LAST TIME OUT
  • UMass Dartmouth came away with a dominant, 40-0, victory over Fitchburg State last Saturday.
  • The ground game was the star of the show as Freshman Marvens Jean rushed for 173 yards and a touchdown, while junior Luis Gonzalez finished with 115 yards and a score and added a receiving TD from senior Keenan Little as well.
  • Sophomore quarterback Dante Aviles-Santos registered 57 yards on the ground with two rushing scores and sophomore Richarno Hylton took a 51-yard rush to the house on his only carry of the day.
  • Defensively, 5th-year senior Marcus Elysee had himself a day with three sacks and nine total tackles. Two of his sacks came on back-to-back plays. Senior Malik Gibson and Mekhi Geter each finished with six tackles, while 5th-year senior Chris Gomes had an interception in the third quarter.
 OFFENSIVELY
  • After leading the MASCAC all season, the Corsairs are now second in the league in points per game with 31.6.
  • UMass Dartmouth still ranks first in total points (253), yards per game (435.6), total offense (3,485), passing touchdowns (20), rushing yards per game (218.5) and rushing touchdowns (19).
  • Aviles-Santos leads the league with 15 touchdown passes and 20 total TD's, he is third in passing yards per game with 191.0.
  • Gonzalez is second in rushing yards per game (86.5) and tied for third with six TD's on the ground, while Jean is third in yards (76.8) and tied for sixth in touchdowns (5).
DEFENSIVE STATS
  • UMassD leads the MASCAC with 11 interceptions. Sophomore Logan Chappell is first in the conference with five of them, while sophomore Trell Best has two.
  • The Corsairs are tied for second with 16 sacks. Junior Josh Lacerte is second in the MASCAC with five sacks. Freshman Sam Alicea has four and 5th-year senior Marcus Elysee has three.
  • Senior JP Mason leads the team and is fifth in the conference and leads the Corsairs with 7.5 tackles per game.
REGIONAL RANKINGS
  • The Corsairs cracked the top-10 of the New England Division III Regional Rankings this week.
  • UMass Dartmouth had been receiving votes for the previous two weeks but found themselves in the top 10 after its win over Fitchburg State.
  • Bridgewater State is also in the rankings in the seventh position.
SCOUTING BRIDGEWATER STATE
  • The Bears are 5-2 and 5-0 in the MASCAC with wins over Plymouth State (27-24), WestConn (21-17), Fitchburg State (42-0), Worcester State (49-13) and Westfield State (47-14).
  • If you're wondering who now leads the league in points per game, it's Bridgewater State (32.3).
  • The Bears' quarterback James Cahoon leads the MASCAC in passing yards per game (229.4) and is second in touchdowns (14).
  • Running back Adam Couch leads the league in rushing yards per game (121.7) and is second in touchdowns (10).
  • Bridgewater State also has the top-two tacklers per game in the conference in Steven Silvia (11.3) and Brendan Albert (10.9).
BEARS' LAST TIME OUT
  •  Bridgewater beat up on Westfield, 47-14, in its last game.
  • Cahoon completed 18 of 30 pass attempts for 234 yards and three touchdowns to lead the BSU offense, while senior wide receiver Kyle Torres caught five passes for 93 yards and score.
  • Couch recorded his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season as he carried the ball 15 times for 100 yards.
  • Silvia led the Bears' defensive effort as he notched a game-high ten tackles (nine solo) and intercepted a pass.
  • Junior defensive end Brian Campagna checked in with eight tackles including a sack.
