Slowinski Cracks Top Ten in Regular Season Finale

DARTMOUTH, Mass.- University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Kristin Slowinski (Colrain, Mass.) found a place on the Corsairs Top Ten All-Time in the hammer with a throw of 34.53 meters (113' 3"). UMassD fell to the visiting Brandeis University 100-72.
 
Slowinski moved in to #10 all-time and currently ranks eighth in the Little East Conference in the hammer. She followed up that performance with a pair of third place finishes in shot put and discus, throwing 9.04 meters (32' 10.25") and 22.71 meters (74' 6") respectively. The Corsairs once again swept the throwing events. Freshman Kate Hockenbury (Hopedale, Mass.)  grabbed the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 10.23 meters (33' 6.75) and had second place finishes in the discus, throwing 24.18 meters (79' 4")  and hammer, tossing it 25.71 meters (84' 4").  Classmate Amanda Little (Pembroke, Mass.) took home first in the discus, throwing 30.89 meters (101' 4") and earned the second spot in the shot put with a throw of 10.01 meters (32' 10.25"), as well as a second place throw of 24.73 meters (81' 2") in the hammer. Little is currently the top freshman discus thrower in the LEC, as well as #15 overall in the region. Freshman Alexa Lemieux (Blackstone, Mass.) rounded out the throwing victories with the top spot in the javelin, throwing 25.68 meters (84' 3").
 
Junior Kaitlyn Bernier (Dartmouth, Mass.) continues to shine for the Corsairs, finishing first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.75 seconds. Bernier sits atop the DIII New England Region in the event, with her top performance coming in at a time of 59.51 seconds. Senior Taylor Walsh (Groveland, Mass.)  grabbed two points for the Corsairs with a third place finish in the 800-meter, clocking in at 2:24.91 and securing the #2 spot in the conference and the #15 spot in the region.  Junior Alexa VanVoorhis posted a time of 5:25.97 in the 1500-meter, earning two points for the team and the #5 spot in the conference. Freshman Lexy Lynch (Wareham, Mass.) came in second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.72 seconds.

The Corsairs return to action Saturday, May 1st at 11:00 AM as UMassD hosts the Little East Conference Championships. The meet will be streamed for fans to follow along at littleeast.tv.
