Men's Cross Country Finishes Strong at Conn College Invite

Corsairs compete in two races on Saturday

WATERFORD, Conn. – It was a strong day of action at the UMass Dartmouth men's cross country team competed in multiple races at the 2024 Connecticut College Invitational, hosted at Harkness Memorial Park on Saturday.
 
In the men's sub-varsity 8000m White race, sophomore Ronan Maloney paced the way, taking 198th overall with a time of 29:23.40. Junior James Christie was next across in 29:35.50 – good for 206th overall. Rookie Michael Gemelli recorded a time of 29:54.40 for 217th, while junior Cooper Blatz was 221st overall in 20:00.60.
 
Sophomore James Carriere was next across in 30:20.20 for 231st, while rookie Jack Barbato was 233rd in 30:24.90, while sophomore Ben Bairos placed 238th in 30:47.70. Sophomore Tyler Scanlon earned 247th overall with a time of 31:15.00, while rookie Isaac Toweh rounded out the race finishes in 261st with a time of 33:18.50.
 
The men's 8000m Blue race saw fifth-year Jake Paris place 100th overall, leading the way for the Corsairs with a time of 26:03.10. Sophomore Cameron Thompson was next across, notching a time of 26:35.20 for 140th overall. Senior Benjamin Davignon ran a time of 27:01.90 for 171st overall, while sophomore Ethan Sylvia notched a time of 27:21.90 for 195th.
 
Graduate student Davis Preston was next over the finish line, posting a time of 27:29.00 for 201st on the afternoon. Junior Isaac Steele powered to 220th overall with a time of 27:49.80. Rookie Jackson Caron posted a mark of 28:02.90 for 226th overall, while classmate Connor Bruni was 250th in the expansive field with a time of 28:44.80.
 
UMass Dartmouth is now idle until November 2nd, when the women's and men's squads host the 2024 Little East Championships at the Robert Dowd Cross Country Course on campus. The women's race begins at 11am, followed by the men's race at 12pm.
