Women's Track & Field Finishes Strong at Suffolk Relays

12 Corsairs finish in Top-20 to pace the effort on Saturday

BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team put forth an outstanding effort on Saturday, competing at the 2025 Suffolk Relays – hosted at The TRACK at New Balance. The Corsairs saw 12 performances in the top 20, including eighth overall by the 4x400-meter relay team to conclude the day's events.
 
Rookie Phoebe Gesner made her Corsairs debut in the 60-meter dash to open the day, posting 35th overall with a time of 8.57, before competing in the 200-meter dash – taking 28th in 28.17. The 800-meter run saw rookie Sara Lopez post 10th overall with a time of 2:38.74, while junior Tori Schweitzer was 19th overall in 3:00.02 and sophomore Kyla Palmer was 21st in 3:07.85.
 
In the 1000-meter run, senior Julia Latura recorded a time of 3:19.37, good for 18th overall. The 1-mile run saw graduate student Emma Steedman finish 30th overall in 5:39.08, while in the 3000-meter run, senior Bee Greenberg was 18th overall in 11:18.13. Sophomore Sarah Lynch placed 34th in the 3000 with a mark of 12:05.85, while classmate Sophie Owen was 38th in 12:30.65.
 
In the 5000-meter run, graduate student Emily Philbrook posted 12th overall with a mark of 19:09.44. The 60-meter hurdles saw rookie Belleya Franck post 29th overall in 10.71, while in the final track event of the night – the 4x400-meter relay – Steedman, Latura, Palmer and Lopez combined for eighth overall with a time of 4:41.37.
 
The field events were paced by sophomore Emily Hesketh, who posted 11th overall in the weight throw with a mark of 13.57 meters (44' 6.25"). Senior Neisha Boiteux was 17th in the event, recording a distance of 12.04 meters (39' 6"), while grad student Kate Hockenbury was 18th with a throw of 11.53 meters (37' 10").
 
Hockenbury paced the shot put, taking 15th overall with a throw of 10.70 meters (35' 1.25"), while Hesketh finished 19th overall with a mark of 10.39 meters (34' 1.25"). Boiteux rounded out the efforts in 20th with a mark of 10.29 meters (33' 9.25").
 
In the long jump, junior Isabella Taccogna was 25th overall with a distance of 4.40 meters (14' 5.25"). She went on to post 26th overall in the high jump with a height of 1.48 meters (4' 10.25").
 
UMass Dartmouth returns to action next Saturday when it heads to Brandeis University to compete in the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational.
