Women's Track & Field Concludes Action at F.I.R.E. Meet

Corsairs wrap-up action at Williams with solid efforts

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – It was another solid day of action for the UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team as the Corsairs concluded the final day at the F.I.R.E. Meet at Williams. UMD was paced by several strong performances on the day.
 
In the field events, rookie Eshaya Lauder posted ninth overall in the long jump with a mark of 5.09 meters (16' 85"), while in the shot put, rookie Kearston Nelson finished 14th overall with a mark of 10.67 meters (35' 0"). Sophomore Olivia Seutter was close behind, earning 16th in the shot put with a throw of 10.29 meters (33' 9").
 
The duo went on to finish well in the discus throw as Seutter posted eighth overall with a mark of 37.83 meters (123' 5"), while Nelson posted 24th with a distance of 30.58 meters (100' 4"). In the high jump, senior Isabella Taccogna placed 17th overall with a mark of 1.43 meters (4' 8.25"), while junior Emily Hesketh was 14th in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.32 meters (145' 5").
 
The track events saw senior Tori Schweitzer place 36th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.57. On Friday, the Corsairs saw junior Sarah Lynch finish 43rd in the 5,000-meters with an outdoor personal best time of 18:53.34, while classmate Sophie Owen was 46th in 19:36.81.
 
The Corsairs will see select individuals from both squads compete at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday beginning at 4pm in Cambridge.
