SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Behind five top-five efforts, the UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team powered their way to fourth overall at the Bryant Indoor Throws Competition on Wednesday. The Corsairs saw three different throwers bank efforts in the top-five, paced by senior
Neisha Boiteux, who took second, seventh and ninth on the afternoon.
Boiteux placed second overall in the discus throw with a mark of 35.69 meters (117'1"). Sophomore
Emily Hesketh took 12th overall in the event with a distance of 28.25 meters (92'8"), while junior
Lauren Donlan was 20th with a throw of 21.16 meters (69'5"). Rounding out the discus was rookie
Caroline Lander, who was 21st with a mark of 19.91 meters (65'4").Â
In the shot put, graduate student
Kate Hockenbury posted fifth overall to pace the way with a throw of 11.03 meters (36'2.25"). Boiteux claimed seventh overall with a mark of 10.82 meters (35'6"), while sophomore
Abby O'Leary was 22nd with a throw of 8.77 meters (28'9.25"). Donlan posted 23rd with a distance of 8.68 meters (28'5.75"), while graduate student
Alexa Lemieux was 26th with a mark of 7.63 meters (25'0.50"). Lander concluded the event in 27th with a throw of 6.92 meters (22'8.50").
The weight throw saw Hesketh take sixth overall with a mark of 13.08 meters (42'11"). Boiteux was ninth with a throw of 12.53 meters (41'1.50"), while Hockenbury posted 11th with a distance of 11.42 meters (37'5.75"). Donlan was 17th with a mark of 9.90 meters (32'5.75"), while Lemieux was 21st (7.89m; 25'10.75") and O'Leary was 23rd (7.57m; 24'10").
UMass Dartmouth will see the entire team in action on Saturday as they travel to The TRACK at New Balance to compete at the Suffolk Invitational. More details about the meet will be available soon.
