DeMeo garners first career LEC weekly honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) released its weekly awards for women's basketball with senior guard captain Melanie DeMeo earning LEC Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league on Monday. It marks the first career LEC Player of the Week award for DeMeo following an outstanding performance for the Corsairs.

DeMeo finished a 2-1 week for UMass Dartmouth with 51 total points, averaging 17.0 points per game for the Corsairs, to move the squad to 2-3 overall on the young season. The senior guard went 18-for-36 from the field for a 50.0 shooting percentage while also knocking down five triples (5-13) and going 10-for-11 (90.9%) from the free throw line. The captain also recorded 11 total rebounds, nine assists, five steals, and block across three games this week.

The Mahopac native played a key role for the Corsairs in their 2-0 sweep on the weekend during the 2025 UMass Dartmouth Lafrance Hospitality Classic. She posted back-to-back 20-plus point games dropping a career-high 22 points against Emerson College to solidify the first win of the 2025 campaign by a final score of 77-69 on Saturday.
