DeMeo Tabbed on NEWBA Second Team Weekly Honors

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) released its weekly award report featuring senior guard Melanie DeMeo on the NEWBA Second Team, as announced on Tuesday by the organization. DeMeo earns her second weekly NEWBA honor after being named on the First Team earlier this season. 

DeMeo aided the Corsairs to a 1-1 week after dropping 42 total points, averaging 21.0 points per game, across the opening two games of Little Eas Conference (LEC) action. She went 16-for-29 from the field for an impressive 55.2 shooting percentage featuring one triple (1-3) and a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line. She also recorded nine rebounds, nine assists, and five steals for UMass Dartmouth.

On Saturday, DeMeo recorded a career-high 26 points against VTSU Castleton to power the Corsairs over the Spartans, 67-57, for their first conference win of the season. Addiotnally, she recorded six rebounds, four assists, and three steals versus the Spartans. In the Little East, DeMeo currently ranks fifth overall in both total points (131) and points per game average (16.4) while her 45 made field goals sits fourth overall in the league.
