Three personal records set at multi-divisional meet

BOSTON, Mass. – It was a solid day of action for several members of the UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team, who competed at the multi-divisional David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University. Four Corsairs were in action, compiling three personal records in their events.

The day got underway in the 400-meter dash as rookie Zane Gordon made a big impression with a personal record time of 49.03. That mark not only placed him 15th overall in a tough field, but marked a Division III New England and NEICAAA qualifying standard. The time was also the second fastest indoor time in the 400-meters in program history.

Senior Xavier Manuel was next up for the Corsairs in the 200-meter dash. He crossed the line in a personal record time of 22.21 – which ranked him 24th overall. That time was also a DIII NE and NEICAAA qualifying standard.

Sophomore Cameron Thompson competed in the Mile, posting a time of 4:27.05 – which was 344th overall in the tough multi-divisional field. Closing out the day was fifth year Jake Paris, who competed in the 3,000-meters. He crossed the line in 8:36.23 which was not only a DIII NE qualifying standard, but also a personal record – eclipsing his previous mark of 8:42.18 that he achieved at last year's indoor Open New England Championship.

The Corsairs' men's squad returns to action on Saturday, competing at the Gordon Kelly Invitational – hosted by MIT. Action begins in the field events at 9:30am with the track events kicking off at 11:40am.
