Solid Start for Men's Track & Field at Day 1 of DIII NE's

Corsairs see five individuals and a relay in action on Friday

BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team got underway at the 2025 Division III New England Championships – hosted at The TRACK at New Balance. The Corsairs saw five individuals and one relay competing on Friday.
 
In the 60-meter dash, senior Xavier Manuel posted 16th overall with a time of 7.04, while in the 600-meter run, sophomore Joseph Stanton posted 20th overall with a time of 1:23.57 - which was the fourth-best all-time performance in program history.
 
The 1,000-meter run saw graduate student Davis Preston cross the line in 11th overall with a time of 2:32.64. That mark was also a personal record time, eclipsing his previous mark of 2:35.85 – set in his 1,000m victory at the Little East Championships last weekend and was the ninth-best performance all-time in program history.
 
The final track event of the day for the Corsairs saw the Distance Medley Relay finish 14th overall with a time of 10:42.06 - producing the sixth-best performance in program history. The relay was comprised of sophomores Ronan Maloney, James Carriere and Zack Shute, along with rookie Jackson Caron.

Sophomore Justin Andrade was in action in the long jump, finishing 20th overall with a distance of 6.39 meters (20' 11.75"), while the shot put saw rookie Ancil Alexander post 18th with a throw of 13.81 meters (45' 3.75").
 
The Corsairs will see several competitors in action on Saturday, beginning at 2pm as sophomore Cameron Thompson gets things going in the 1 Mile run.
