ATLANTA, Ga. - The Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) released their NCAA Division III awards for the 2024-25 season featuring graduate student forward
Carly Whiteside of the UMass Dartmouth women's basketball team. This marks the first-ever WBCA Coaches' All-America honorable mention distinction for the veteran forward in her career.
Whiteside capped off an incredible career with UMass Dartmouth for the 2024-25 campaign after leading the team in multiple statistical categories. She finished the season with 406 points, marking a new-career-high, and averaged 15.0 points per game for the Corsairs. Whiteside also led the squad in field goals made (143), field goal percentage (54.0), free throws made (102), free throw attempts (128), total rebounds (216), offensive boards (67), defensive boards (149), average rebounds per game (8.0), and total blocked shots (35).
A four-time Little East Conference (LEC) Player of the Week selection, Whiteside recorded six double-doubles this season along with eight games with 20-plus points. Through 27 games played, featuring 26 starts, the veteran forward has averaged a career-high 27 minutes played per game for the Corsairs. She dropped a season-high 30 points against Western Connecticut State University on Feb. 22. Whiteside powered UMass Dartmouth over Bates College on Jan. 25 with her 20 points and season-high 14 rebounds against the Bobcats in an 88-82 overtime thriller.
In the Little East, Whiteside topped the league with her 54.0 field goal percentage which also ranks her 25
th overall in all of Division III. She also sits in the top-5 in several other categories in the conference including total point (406), points per game (15.0), field goals made (143), free throws made (102), free throw percentage (79.7), total rebounds (216), rebounds per game (8.0), blocked shots (35), and blocked shots per game (1.3).
Whiteside adds WBCA Coaches' All-America honorable mention distinction to her impressive list of accolades this post-season. She was also recently named to the 2024-25 NEWBA All-Region Second Team and earned All-LEC First Team honors for her efforts this season.
