AMHERST, Mass. – Powered by a number of outstanding finishes, the UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team placed 11th of 30 teams at the 2025 NEICAAA Open New England Championships. The Corsairs compiled 21 points on the day, powered by four Top-5 finishes and were the highest scoring Little East team at the meet – edging Southern Maine by two points.
Rookie
Ancil Alexander continued to impress in the shot put, finishing fifth overall with a personal best mark of 16.44 meters (53' 11.25"). In the javelin throw, senior
Connor Richard placed third overall with a throw of 59.67 meters (195' 9"), while in the high jump, rookie
Sean Patrone posted fourth overall with a height of 1.96 meters (6' 5").
Also competing in the high jump was junior
Vincenzo Videtta, who tied for 17th overall with a height of 1.86 meters (6' 1.25"), while Alexander went on to place third overall in the discus throw, posting a mark of 52.25 meters (171' 5").
On the track, the Corsairs kicked things off with the 5,000-meter run as fifth year
Jake Paris placed 15th overall with a season-best time of 15:15.54. In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore
Cameron Thompson posted 16th overall with a time of 4:02.29.
The 110-meter hurdles saw rookie
Bryce Tessier post 14th overall with a time of 15.37, while in the 400-meter dash, freshman
Zane Gordon took 14th with a mark of 49.56. The 100-meter dash saw another personal best mark reached as senior
Xavier Manuel posted a time of 10.72 to finish 15th overall.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Tessier returned to take 16th overall with a time of 55.84, while in the 200-meter dash, Manuel achieved another personal best mark, taking 10th overall with a time of 21.83. Rookie
Daniel Jordan also competed in the 200, taking 28th with a mark of 22.52.
Graduate student
Davis Preston was next up for the Corsairs in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, earning 24th overall with a time of 10:04.42. The final event of the day was the 4x800-meter relay which saw Thompson, Preston, Paris, sophomore
James Carriere and junior
Ethan Sylvia combine for 11th overall with a time of 8:12.73.
The Corsairs will see several student-athletes return to action next Thursday, traveling to Cambridge, Mass., for the MIT Final Qualifier – the last meet for UMD before the NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
