CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – It was an outstanding afternoon of action for the UMass Dartmouth men's track & field team, which saw seven student-athletes compete at the 2025 Final Qualifier at MIT. The meet saw a victory, in addition to four personal record performances.
In the 100-meter dash, sophomore
Justin Andrade powered his way to 11th overall with a personal record time of 10.96. The 1500-meter run saw sophomore
Cameron Thompson post 17th overall, clocking in a personal record time of 3:57.55. Graduate student
Davis Preston was close behind, taking the 19th spot with a personal record of his own of 3:59.41.
It was another personal record effort in the 400-meter dash as rookie
Zane Gordon eclipsed his own personal best – earning second overall with a time of 49.10. Classmate
Daniel Jordan also had a strong effort, taking fifth overall in a time of 50.97.
Rookie
Ancil Alexander was the victor in the discus throw, posting a mark of 52.29 meters (171' 6") for his seventh win of the season in the event. He went on to place second overall in the shot put with a mark of 14.65 meters (48' 0.75").
Rounding out the action was
Vincenzo Videtta, who finished eighth overall in the high jump. The junior posted a mark of 1.91 meters (6' 3.25").
The Corsairs will now wait until Friday evening when the selections are announced for the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Currently, UMass Dartmouth senior
Connor Richard sits 17th in Division III in the javelin throw, while Alexander is seventh in the nation in the discus throw.
