Women's Track & Field Solid on Day 1 of DIII New Englands

Strong performances pace the way for the Corsairs

NEW LONDON, Conn. – It was opening day of the 2025 Division III New England Championships at the Coast Guard Academy as members of the UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team had a solid showing. The Corsairs saw four student-athletes in action.
 
In the field events, sophomore Emily Hesketh was in action for the hammer throw. She notched a distance of 40.87 meters (134' 1") to finish 18th overall in a talented field.
 
The efforts rounded out in the final event of the night, the 10,000-meter run as three Corsairs were in action. Leading the way was graduate student Emily Philbrook, who finished 16th overall with a time of 39:53.48. Next across was sophomore Sarah Lynch, who was 19th with a mark of 40:36.12.
 
Rounding out the effort in the 10k was senior Anya Aadland, who crossed the line in 27th overall with a mark of 44:01.03.
The Corsairs will see a number of student-athletes compete in four different events on day two of the DIII New England Championships. Action begins at 11am with the women's shot put.
