DARTMOUTH, Mass. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its 2025 Academic All-District selections in men's cross country and track & field and two UMass Dartmouth student-athletes have been honored. Junior
Ethan Sylvia and sophomore
Cameron Thompson were both tabbed for their outstanding work in the classroom and on the course.
Sylvia, who hails from Attleboro, Mass., posted a 3.82 cumulative grade point average as a computer science major at UMass Dartmouth. During the cross country season, Sylvia competed in seven meets for the Corsairs. Highlighting his season was 27th overall in the 5k with a time of 17:18.8 at the Trinity Bantam Invitational. Sylvia also posted 23rd overall in 26:58.2 in the 8k at the Little East Championships.
In the indoor track season, Sylvia competed in five meets. Among the highlights included a collegiate-best time in the Mile (4:37.50) to place 16th overall at the Lyons Invite, before finishing third overall in the Mile (4:37.66) at the Wheaton Invite a week later. Sylvia went on to compete in seven meets for the Corsairs during the outdoor campaign.
Highlighting the outdoor for Sylvia was the Silfen Invitational, where he posted a collegiate-best time of 33:09.31 in the 10,000-meters to place 15th overall. He went on to earn fourth in a collegiate-best time of 4:09.66 at the Tufts Sunshine Classic and later posted seventh overall in the 5,000-meters with a collegiate-best time of 15:54.96 at the Little East Championships.
Thompson, a native of Sherborn, Mass., notched a cumulative GPA of 3.86 as an art & design major. In the cross country season, he had an outstanding effort competing in seven meets for the Corsairs. An All-Little East First Team honoree, he recorded a collegiate-best time of 26:02.0 in the 8k, earning sixth overall at the Little East Championships … All-Little East First Team honors. Thompson went on to place 54th overall in 26:35.8 in the 8k at the NCAA East Regional Championships.
During the 2025 indoor season, Thompson competed in nine meets. He posted three top-four finishes through the first three meets of the season, culminating in a win in the 3,000-meters with a collegiate-best time of 8:48.34 at the Wheaton Invite. Thompson went on to earn All-Little East Second Team honors in the Mile, finishing second in 4:20.87, before wrapping up the season with a collegiate-best time of 4:19.64 in the Mile at the New England Division III Championships.
Thompson went on to compete in nine outdoor meets for the Corsairs. He opened the season with second overall, finishing the 5,000-meters in a collegiate-best time of 15:24.50 at the Wesleyan Swanson Invitational. He then claimed victory in the 800-meters at Coast Guard with a collegiate-best time of 1:57.97. Thompson went on to earn All-Little East Second Team honors in both the 1,500-meters (4:07.78) and the 4x800-meter relay (8:08.59) for second overall at the Little East Outdoor Championships.
The UMass Dartmouth men's cross country team placed fourth overall at the 2024 Little East Championships, while the men's indoor track & field team posted second overall at the 2025 LEC Indoor Championships. The pair's efforts helped lift the Corsairs to the team title at the 2025 LEC Outdoor Championships as UMD claimed its third outdoor title in the last four years.
