Women's Lacrosse Garners IWLCA Academic Honors

Team named All-Academic; Two Corsairs on Academic Honor Roll

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) has announced its academic award winners for 2024-25 and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's lacrosse team has been recognized. As a team, the Corsairs were named an Academic Honor Squad, while two student-athletes were tabbed to the Division III Honor Roll for their outstanding work in the classroom.
 
UMass Dartmouth was one of 383 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA to earn IWLCA Academic Honor Squad recognition for this past year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Corsairs, who went 9-9 overall, advanced to the Little East Conference Tournament behind points from 11 of the squad's 17 field players.
 
Individually, the squad saw two players garner Honor Roll recognition paced by fifth-year senior defender Mia DiBiase. The Seekonk, Mass., native played in 10 games for the Corsairs during the 2025 campaign. Finishing with 15 ground balls, DiBiase also recorded 13 caused turnovers – which ranked sixth overall on the squad. Highlighting the season was a March 22 win over VTSU Castleton, where DiBiase posted a career-high six caused turnovers.
 
Also recognized was graduate student midfielder, Kyra Lyons. A native of Attleboro, Mass., Lyons played 16 games for the Corsairs, including 14 as a starter. She was fourth overall on the team in scoring with 23 goals and eight assists for 31 points. Of her 59 shots, 41 were on goals as Lyons produced a game-winning tally and three free-position markers. In addition, she scooped up 17 ground balls with four caused turnovers and a draw control win.
 
Highlighting Lyons' season was a career-high six-point performance against the Spartans on March 22. During that win, she recorded three goals and added three assists in a dominating 19-3 score at home.
 
The 2025 season saw the IWLCA honor 1,286 student-athletes from 201 different institutions on the Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
