ATTLEBORO, Mass. - It was an outstanding opening day of action for the UMass Dartmouth women's cross country team, which finished ninth of 17 teams at the Suffolk Short Course Classic. The Corsairs were paced by junior captain
Sarah Lynch, who recorded 53rd overall in a field of 190 runners in the 3k event.
Lynch recorded had an overall time of 12:29.69, followed by rookie
Alexah Pedder - who earned 55th overall with a time of 12:30.85. Junior captain
Sophie Owen was next across in 56th with a mark of 12:30.99, while senior captain
Tori Schweitzer ran to 65th overall in a time of 12:40.70. Sophomore
Natalya LaVita powered her way to 97th overall in 13:06.48, while classmate
Ashlyn Byrnes finished in 13:10.89 for 102nd overall. Rounding out the top seven was junior
Serena Carnes with a mark of 13:16.10 for 106th overall.

The Corsairs return to action on Saturday, heading to Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn., to compete at the Trinity Invite. Action for the women gets underway at 10:30am.
