PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference released its weekly honorees in women's tennis and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete
Mya Dean was tabbed the Rookie of the Week. It marks the first-ever LEC weekly award for Dean following an impressive performance this week for the Corsairs.
Dean helped UMass Dartmouth improve to a 2-1 overall record on the young season after finishing the week undefeated in doubles play and 1-1 in singles action. She opened the week by securing her first career doubles win against Clark University on September 9th with junior captain
Maddie Gonzalez by a final score of 6-2.
On September 13th versus the University of Southern Maine, Dean picked up her second straight doubles victory with Gonzalez (6-2) to improve to a 2-1 overall doubles record on the season. She then handed Hanni Johnson a 6-1, 6-2 defeat at No. 3 singles enroute to a 6-1 win conference win of the season.
Dean and UMass Dartmouth travel to Russell Sage College for their next non-conference match on Friday, September 19. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time from the Myers Tennis Courts.
