Women's Swimming Sits Ninth After Day 2 of LEC Championships

Personal bests reign supreme for Corsairs at Boston Sports Institute

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Action at day two of the Little East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships is in the books and it was another outstanding day for the UMass Dartmouth women's swimming team. The Corsairs saw more personal bests met in the meet, which was held at the Boston Sports Institute.
 
Currently, the Corsairs sit ninth overall in the field of 11 squads with 159 points after a solid day of competition and strong efforts.
 
The evening session opened with the 200-yard medley relay as the group of rookie Abby Fernandes, seniors Kylie Winer and Isabella Gerardi, along with junior Skye Peters took eighth overall in 2:01.91- a season's best time.
 
In the 400-yard individual medley, Fernandes competed in the championship finals, powering to a sixth-place finish with another personal best time of 5:13.13. It eclipsed her personal best from the morning session (5:17.22) and obliterated her previous top time of 5:26.41 in the event.
 
Gerardi was also in action in the 400-IM, competing in the consolation final. She posted a time of 5:25.98 – eclipsing the personal best she set in the morning preliminaries of 5:35.97 to take ninth overall in the event.
 
Winer was the final individual competitor in the evening swim, racing in the 100-yard breaststroke. The senior took fifth overall in the championship race with another personal best time of 1:12.04, which edged out her morning time of 1:12.04. Winer was also incredibly close to the school record in the event (1:11.55).
 
Rounding out the night was the 800-freestyle relay as Winer, Fernandes, Peters and Gerardi combined to take sixth overall with a time of 8:44.79. That mark eclipsed the previous season's best time of 8:59.00.
 
The Corsairs return to action on Sunday morning with the final day of competition at the 2026 Conference Championships. Action kicks off with the preliminaries beginning at 10am. The finals will start at 5:30pm on Sunday evening.
