MEDFORD, Mass. – It was an outstanding day of action for the UMass Dartmouth women's indoor track & field team, competing today at the 2026 Tufts Cupid Challenge. The Corsairs recorded 16 personal records on the day, adding a New England Division 3 Provisional qualifying mark at the non-team scoring meet.
In the 60-meter hurdles, the Corsairs saw rookie
Adama Bangura finish 27th overall with a time of 11.20. Classmates
Laylaa Plaisir and
Elizabeth Fagundes were 29th (11.53) and 34th (12.03), respectively. The 60-meter invite event saw rookie
Eshaya Lauder place 15th overall with a personal record and New England Division III Provisional qualifying mark of 8.27.
Also competing the 60-m invite was rookie
Kiki Melick, who was 16th overall with a time of 8.31. Classmate
Kiariana Williams was 18th in the event with a personal record time of 8.35. In the 60-m open, Plaisir posted 20th overall with a personal record mark of 9.04, while Fagundes was 23rd overall in 9.26.
The mile event was highlighted by rookie
Alexah Pedder, who notched a personal record time of 5:39.74 to finish 16th overall. Junior
Serena Carnes was 22nd overall with a personal record mark of 5:46.44, while classmate
Liv DeSimone was 32nd in 5:59.83. Sophomore
Lylah Thibeault took 33rd with a personal record time of 6:00.23, while classmate
Alexia Gonsalves rounded out the action in 40th with a time of 6:15.98.
In the 800-meter run, graduate student
Julia Latura posted eighth overall in 2:29.84, while sophomore
Sara Lopez placed ninth in 2:29.91. Sophomore
Ashlyn Byrnes finished 11th in a personal record time of 2:82.23, while senior
Tori Schweitzer was 17th in 2:37.91. Rookie
Elena Aponte was 20th in 2:43.28, while classmates
Nicole Mota and
Isabelle Chekares were 26th (2:48.84) and 28th (2:51.66), respectively – both recording personal record marks.
The 400-meter dash saw senior
Grace Russell post eighth overall with a time of 1:05.03, while the 200-meter dash saw Melick finish eighth in a personal record time of 27.02. Williams was 22nd with a personal record time of 28.61, while senior
Isabella Taccogna finished 26th with a mark of 28.86.
Rounding out the action was the 3,000-meters, which saw junior
Sarah Lynch finish 10th overall with a personal record time of 10:41.09. Classmate
Sophie Owen was 22nd overall in 10:59.72, while graduate student
Emily Philbrook finished 25th in 11:11.43.
The field events saw Taccogna place 16th overall in the high jump with a New England D3 Provisional qualifying mark of 1.53 meters (5' .25"). In the long jump, Lauder was eighth overall with an NED3 Provisional mark of 5.28 meters (17' 4"), while in the pole vault, rookie
Grace Hawranik posted a personal record height of 2.87 meters (9' 5") to finish ninth overall.
In the weight throw, junior
Emily Hesketh posted 17th overall with a mark of 13.08 meters (42' 11"), while sophomore
Abby O'Leary was 24th with a personal record of 11.96 meters (39' 3"). Taking 41st was rookie
Addy Keller, who posted a personal record of 9.49 meters (31' 1.75"), while classmate
Kearston Nelson was 45th with a throw of 8.56 meters (28' 1").
The shot put saw two different events on the day. In the invited field, Seutter led the way in 16th with a throw of 10.74 meters (35' 3"), while Nelson was 23rd with a throw of 10.34 meters (33' 11.25"), while in the open event, Keller finished fifth overall with a personal record throw of 9.96 meters (32' 8.25"). O'Leary was 13th with a mark of 9.18 meters (30' 1.5"), while sophomore
Caroline Lander was 21st with a mark of 8.23 meters (27' 0").
UMass Dartmouth returns to action next Saturday when it heads North for the 2026 Little East Conference Championships. The Corsairs head to Plymouth State University for the meet in search of a conference title.
