MEDFORD, Mass. – It was an outstanding day of action for the UMass Dartmouth women's track & field team as they concluded day two at the 2026 Tufts Spring Stampede. The Corsairs saw a number of strong efforts on the day, coupled with solid showings on Friday night.
In the 100-meter dash, rookie
Kiki Melick posted 13th overall with a mark of 12.83 – which was a D3 New England Provisional Qualifying mark. Classmate
Eshaya Lauder posted 22nd overall with a time of 13.10, while rookie
Kiariana Williams was 26th overall in 13.37. Fellow rookie
Adama Bangura was 31st in 13.83, while rookies
Kate Sanchez and
Mia Wellington posted 46th (15.38) and 47th (15.43), respectively.
The 200-meters saw Melick place 11th overall with a time of 26.39 – which was a D3 New England Provisional Qualifying mark. Rookie
Tiana Jacques was 38th in 28.74, while Sanchez and Wellington were 51st (31.91) and 52nd (32.73), respectively.
In the 400-meters, rookie
Isabelle Chekares finished 14th in 1:07.25 – a new personal best – while the 800-meters saw senior
Tori Schweitzer place 15th overall in 2:29.99. Rookie
Eva Silva-Romao went on to post 34th overall in 3:10.52.
Sophomore
Sara Lopez posted 27th overall in the 1500-meters with a time of 5:16.49, while rookie
Nicole Mota was 39th in 5:46.30. The 5,000-meters saw sophomore
Ashlyn Byrnes post 22nd overall in 19:27.87 – a new personal best.
The 100-meter hurdles saw Bangura take 21st overall in 19.00, while rookie Jai'Reon Brown-Carter post 22nd overall in 19.31. In the 400-meter hurdles, senior
Grace Russell was 13th overall in 1:11.43, while Brown-Carter was 15th overall in 1:12.93.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Russell, Jacques, Williams and senior
Isabella Taccogna combined to finish eighth overall in 4:31.02.
The field events saw Taccogna place 14th overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.48 meters (4' 10.25"). Lauder placed eighth in the long jump with a D3 New England Provisional Qualifying mark of 5.13 meters (16' 10").
In the shot put, rookie
Kearston Nelson placed sixth overall with a mark of 11.08 meters (36' 4.25"), while sophomore
Olivia Seutter was ninth overall with a throw of 10.91 meters (35' 9.5"). Rookie
Addy Keller was right behind, taking 10th overall with a mark of 10.43 meters (34' 2.75"). Sophomore
Abby O'Leary was 16th overall with a distance of 9.45 meters (31' 0").
Seutter went on to place eighth in the discus throw with a mark of 34.44 meters (113' 0"), while Nelson was 17th with a throw of 29.31 meters (96' 2"). Keller placed 21st with a mark of 25.79 meters (84' 7").
The hammer throw was paced by O'Leary, who recorded a distance of 36.68 meters (120' 4").
UMass Dartmouth returns to action next Friday, traveling to Bridgewater State for the Bears Invitational at 11am.
