Three From Women's Volleyball Garner Academic All-District

Pogorelec, Bordone and Pate tabbed by College Sports Communicators

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) has released its 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team selections, and three UMass Dartmouth student-athletes were honored. Seniors Emily Pogorelec and Sabrina Bordone, along with junior Allison Pate were all tabbed for their outstanding efforts on and off the court.
 
Pogorelec, a captain and defensive specialist from Wayne, N.J., holds a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average as an accounting major at UMass Dartmouth. During the 2025 season, the senior made history by becoming just the second player in the history of the Little East Conference to earn four straight Defensive Player of the Year honors.
 
Starting all 29 matches this season, Pogorelec played in 103 sets, recording 504 total digs for a 4.89 digs per set average. She also added 24 service aces with 97 assists and 12 kills during the 2025 campaign.
 
On the season, the six-time LEC Defensive Player of the Week, recorded 27 matches with at least 10 or more digs. Pogorelec also had eight matches with at least 20 digs, including a season-high 31 in a 3-2 home victory over Trinity (Conn.) on September 27. She further cemented her place in the Corsair record books on November 1, posting 16 digs, including the 2,000th of her career in a tough loss at Plymouth State.
 
Pogorelec – a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection - finished her incredible Corsair career with four Defensive Player of the Year and four straight All-LEC First Team honors. She was an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and All-Region First Team honoree in 2024. Pogorelec concluded her career with 111 matches played and 390 sets appeared. She is the program's all-time leader in digs with 2,053 for a 5.26 digs per set average, adding 27 kills, 350 assists and 176 service aces in that time.
 
Bordone, a captain and setter from Massapequa, N.Y., played in all 29 matches for the Corsairs, including 101 sets overall. A finance major with a 3.90 cumulative GPA, she ranked second on the squad with 345 assists, averaging 3.42 assists per set.
 
During the 2025 campaign, she eclipsed 1,500 career assists, while adding 33 service aces – which ranked second most on the team. A two-year captain, Bordone also had 20 matches with at least 10 assists, including a season-high 20 in a 3-1 win at Keene State on October 3.
 
This marks the second straight CSC Academic All-District honor for Bordone, who concludes her outstanding Corsair career with 112 matches played in 384 sets. She recorded 1,604 career assists for a 4.18 assists per set average, adding 122 service aces, 590 digs and 75 kills.
 
Pate, a captain outside hitter from Sebring, Florida, played and started all 29 matches for the Corsairs while appearing in 103 sets. A mechanical engineering major with a 3.74 cumulative GPA - she recorded 352 kills for a 3.42 kills per set average – both of which ranked second on the team. Pate finished with 25 service aces and was second on the team in digs with 400 for a 3.88 digs per set average. She also recorded seven block solo and 25 block assists for 32.0 total.
 
Amongst the LEC's best, Pate – an All-LEC First Team selection – was third overall in kills and kills per set average, while ranking fifth in digs and digs per set. She was also second amongst the LEC leaders in points with 396.5 for a 3.85 points per set average. Amongst the Division III leaders, Pate was 93rd in total attacks (1,021), while ranking 100th in total kills. She was also a two-time LEC Offensive Player of the Week in 2025.
 
The Corsairs concluded their outstanding season in the Little East Conference Championship match, falling to Plymouth State. UMass Dartmouth went 21-8 overall with a 7-1 mark in the Little East – earning the top-seed in the tournament, which saw them defeat WestConn in the Semifinals to advance to the championship for the third straight season.
