DARTMOUTH, Mass. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its 2025 Academic All-District selections in women's cross country and track & field and five UMass Dartmouth student-athletes have been honored.
Bee Greenberg,
Emily Hesketh,
Kate Hockenbury,
Emily Philbrook and
Emma Steedman were all tabbed for their outstanding work in the classroom and on the course.
Greenberg, a senior and recent graduate from Mansfield, Mass., posted a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a computer science major. During the cross country season, Greenberg competed in seven meets for the Corsairs. Highlighting the season was a collegiate-best time of 19:24.0 to earn 10th overall in the 5k at the Little East Championships. For their efforts, they were named to the All-Little East Second Team.
During the indoor season, Greenberg competed in nine meets for the Corsairs. Among the highlights included a collegiate-best time of 10:58.60 to take third in the 3,000-meters at the Wheaton Invite. They also finished fourth overall with a collegiate-best time of 18:55.52 in the 5,000m, while posting fourth in the 3,000m (11:05.12) at the Little East Indoor Championships. In the outdoor campaign, Greenberg shined competing in eight meets for the Corsairs. Highlighting the season was the Little East Outdoor Championships, where they helped the 4x800-meter relay team to the conference title in 10:16.81, while also posting a collegiate-best time of 12:04.60 to finish third in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase for All-LEC Third Team honors.
Hesketh, a sophomore who hails from Kingston, Mass., owned a 3.55 cumulative GPA as a bioengineering major. During the indoor track & field season, Hesketh competed in nine meets. Highlighting the season was the Little East Indoor Championships, where she finished third overall in the weight throw with a distance of 14.40 meters (47' 3") for All-LEC Third Team honors.
During the outdoor campaign, Hesketh competed in eight meets. Among the highlights during outdoor was the Coast Guard Invite, where she was third in the hammer throw (38.86m; 127' 6") and sixth in the discus throw (28.54m; 93' 8"). Hesketh went on to finish third overall in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.14 meters (138' 3") at the Little East Outdoor Championships to garner All-LEC Third Team honors.
Hockenbury, a graduate student from Hopedale, Mass., concluded her Corsairs career with a 3.74 cumulative grade point average. During the indoor season, she competed in ten meets for the Corsairs. Highlighting the season was the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invite where Hockenbury posted third in the shot put (11.19m; 36' 8.5") while recording a collegiate-best mark of 12.66 meters (41' 6.5") to place sixth in the weight throw. She went on to finish fifth overall in the shot put with a throw of 11.49 meters (37' 8.5") at the Little East Indoor Championships (2/22).
In the outdoor season, Hockenbury competed in eight meets for the Corsairs. Her season was highlighted by a number of solid finishes, including the Coast Guard Invite, where she won the shot put with a throw of 11.07 meters (36' 4"). She also claimed victory in the shot put with a distance of 11.86 meters (38' 11"), while also recording a collegiate-best mark of 28.87 meters (82' 1") to post third in the javelin throw at the Gerry Gravel Classic. Hockenbury went on to win the shot put with a toss of 11.76 meters (38' 7") at the Tufts Sunshine Classic and finished fourth overall in the shot put (11.97m; 39' 3.25") at the Little East Outdoor Championships. She concluded her outstanding career with a collegiate-best throw of 11.98 meters (39' 3.75") in the shot put at the Open New England Championships.
Philbrook, a graduate student from Penacook, N.H., posted a 3.79 cumulative GPA while studying for her Juris Doctorate (Law). During the cross country season, she competed in seven meets for the Corsairs. Highlighting her season was the Little East Championships as she finished fourth overall in a collegiate-best time of 18:57.9 in the 5k to earn All-Little East First Team honors.
The indoor season saw Philbrook compete in seven meets for the Corsairs. Among the highlights was third overall in the 5,000m (18:53.41) for All-Little East Third Team recognition at the Little East Indoor Championships. In the outdoor season, Philbrook competed in eight meets for the Corsairs. Among the highlights included a collegiate-best time of 39:12.43 – earning eighth overall – in the 10,000-meters at the Silfen Invitational. She also finished fifth overall in the 10,000m (40:06.05) at the Little East Outdoor Championships.
Rounding out the honorees was graduate student
Emma Steedman, who hails from Eastbourne, United Kingdom. A marine biology major, she posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.77. During the cross country season, Steedman competed in six meets for the Corsairs. Highlighting the way was the Little East Championships as she finished 13th overall in a collegiate-best time of 19:30.4 in the 5k to earn All-Little East Second Team.
During the indoor season, Steedman competed in nine meets for the Corsairs. In addition to a number of collegiate-best milestones, she saw her season highlighted at the Little East Indoor Championships after placing third overall in a collegiate-best time of 5:17.75 in the Mile for All-LEC Third Team honors, while helping the 4x400m relay to fourth (4:20.08). Steedman went on to help the 4x800m relay to seventh overall (9:56.54) at the Open New England Championships.
The outdoor season saw Steedman continue to shine, competing in eight meets overall. She helped the 4x800m relay team to victory in 10:16.81, while also posting second overall in the 3,000m Steeplechase (12:01.01) at the Little East Outdoor Championships for All-LEC First and Second Team honors. She went on to earn third overall in the 3,000m Steeplechase with a time of 11:29.11 at the New England DIII Championships and then recorded a collegiate-best time of 11:20.34 in the 3,000m Steeplechase to finish ninth overall at the Open New England Championships.
The UMass Dartmouth women's cross country team placed second overall at the 2024 Little East Championships – the team's highest finish since 2000. The women's indoor track & field team posted seventh overall at the 2025 LEC Indoor Championships. The outdoor campaign saw the women's team place sixth overall.
