The 1983 Southeastern Massachusetts University women's track and field team made an indelible mark in program history. During the 1983 campaign, two members garnered National All-America honors, including four-time All-American, Cathy Carnes who earned two of her distinguished honors in track & field, along with two in cross country.

Carnes took home All-America honors in the 5,000-meter event in 1983, while Carol McLeod earned All-America recognition in the javelin. In the program Top-10 performances, Carnes continues to hold the school record in both the indoor (16:53.14) and outdoor (17:00.24) 5,000-meters. She remains sixth all-time in the indoor 1-mile event (5:12.14). In the 800-meters, Diane Higgins continues to hold the fifth (2:25.64) and fourth-best (2:21.64) times for indoor and outdoor, respectively, while Michelle Lussier remains the school record holder in the outdoor high jump with a mark of 5'5".

In total, 12 total performances still stand in the Corsairs women's track & field program top-ten to this date. The 1983 squad placed 10th overall at the NCAA Division III National Championships, were third overall at the EAIAW Championships, while garnering sixth overall at All-New England's.
